Diversional Therapist

As a Diversional Therapist in an aged care facility, your primary responsibility would be to plan and implement recreational and leisure activities for residents to enhance their physical, emotional, and social well-being. You would need to assess each resident’s individual needs, interests, and abilities, and create tailored programs that cater to their preferences. Activities may include games, crafts, music, art, outings, and exercise programs, among others. You would also need to liaise with other healthcare professionals to ensure that the recreational activities are safe and appropriate for each resident’s health status. Additionally, you would need to maintain accurate records of each resident’s participation and progress in the programs and regularly review and adjust the programs as necessary.

As an integral part of the care team, you would need to have excellent communication skills, be empathetic and compassionate, and be able to work collaboratively with residents and their families. You would also need to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in diversional therapy techniques and technologies to provide the highest quality of care.

Exercise Physiologist

As an Exercise Physiologist in an aged care facility, you would be responsible for designing and implementing exercise programs for residents to help improve their physical function, mobility, and overall health. You would need to assess each resident’s individual needs and capabilities, taking into consideration any existing medical conditions, and design tailored exercise programs that are safe and effective. Additionally, you would need to monitor each resident’s progress and adjust their programs as necessary. You would work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, to provide holistic care for residents. You would also need to maintain accurate records of each resident’s progress and provide regular updates to their care team and family members.

Occupational Therapist

As an Occupational Therapist in an aged care facility, you would be responsible for helping residents to achieve their maximum level of independence and function in their daily activities. This would involve assessing each resident’s individual needs, abilities, and limitations, and developing tailored treatment plans to improve their ability to carry out everyday tasks such as dressing, grooming, eating, and toileting. Additionally, you would need to assess the resident’s physical environment and provide recommendations for modifications or assistive devices to support their independence. You would work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists and speech therapists, to provide holistic care for residents. You would also need to maintain accurate records of each resident’s progress and provide regular updates to their care team and family members.

You would need to be physically fit to manage the demands of the job, as you may need to assist residents with mobility and perform manual therapy techniques.
